What is the difference between fabric reinforcement and steel cord reinforcement?

Update Time:2026/6/3

The structural reinforcement inside the rubber matrix dictates the belt's ultimate tensile strength, maximum allowable working tension, and longitudinal elongation over time. Selecting the wrong reinforcement causes belt stretch or structural failure under heavy load:

Reinforcement Type Technical Structural Features Ideal Multi-Load Application
Fabric Reinforcement (EP / NN / Multi-ply) Utilizes layered high-strength Polyester (EP) or Nylon (NN) woven plies. Offers excellent elasticity, light weight, and impact absorption. Optimized for short to medium-distance conveyor systems, flexible troughing, agriculture handling, packaging logistics, and cost-sensitive general industry setups.
Steel Cord Reinforcement Integrates parallel high-tensile galvanized steel cables embedded inside a specialized rubber core. Extremely low stretch. Mandatory for long-distance overland conveyors (exceeding 100 meters), heavy mining ore extraction, cement clinker transport, and high-capacity bulk material handling under extreme loads.

📐 Structural Calculation Support

Sables assists industrial OEMs and plant engineers in computing required tensile ratings (such as ST or EP standards) based on your centerline distance, lift height, and hourly tonnage requirements to protect against field belt tearing or slippage.
